Project: Corduroy
Element of Art: Texture Students read the book "Corduroy" and we looked for different types of texture (the way something feels- or looks like it would feel) in the book. Students will then paint their Corduroy and use a paint brush to incorporate texture through hair and fabric texture on their artwork. |
First Grade
Project: Giraffes can't Dance
Element of Art: color, value, shape, texture Principle of design: Movement Students read the book Giraffes Can't dance and looked at the way the elements of art are used to visually express movement in art. Students are then going to use lines and shapes to create their own dancing giraffes. They will then paint the background showing value and texture. |
Second Grade
Project: Buzzing Bees
Element of Art: Color, Value, shape, texture, line Students incorporated science into their art lesson by learning about honey bees and their importance to the environment. Students then learn how to draw a honey bee, add shapes to create a hive and then use analogous colors with oil pastels and watercolors to finish off their artwork. |
